How We Got Here

Many Black travelers explore the world solo or with a small circle, not because we don’t love connection, but because traditional group tours often aren’t built with us in mind. Traveling while Black comes with unique considerations — feeling like the only one, dealing with micro (or macro) aggressions, being on tours that don’t reflect our interests, values, or culture. We like to travel, but don’t usually want to go alone because we can feel conspicuous and vulnerable. ExitUS is here to address that.

42% of Black Americans said they would spend more in 2020 on travel than 2019 (pre-Covid), and 50% of Black adults (16% more than the general population) are more likely to travel to locations associated with their ethnic or cultural heritage.

FACTOID #3

70% of Black travelers are more likely to consider destinations that actively promote their inclusivity efforts. Cities represent not only a preferred destination type for Black Travelers, but are also seen as a safer option for travelers offering a sense of cultural connection.
